And that’s a wrap! Marketing United 2016 has officially come to a close, and we’re filled with a mixture of sadness that it’s over, inspiration to do amazing things (marketing things, mostly), and ideas to make 2017 even better. Here’s a look at what went down on the final day of MU.
Ann Handley laid down everything attendees needed to know about writing content that’s bigger, braver, and bolder. As always, she crushed it.
Ohhh, Jay Baer. He’s full of so much awesome marketing advice, and this year he taught attendees how to best manage negative online feedback from customers – essentially, you should hug your haters rather than ignore them. He also signed copies of his latest book, aptly named “Hug Your Haters.”
Other standout sessions
- A panel of marketers from Trevecca Nazarene University, University of Pennsylvania, University of Louisville, and Vanderbilt University schooled us all on best practices in the university space.
- Jennifer Lopez from Moz dropped all kinds of knowledge bombs on how social and search can work together to maximize your brand's reach. Super smart stuff.
- A panel of leaders in the Nashville arts and hospitality sectors shared their insight into how Nashville became the "it" city for creatives, and how it can maintain its special, supportive environment during its rapid growth.
And when it came time to close things out, we had a marching band lead us to the wrap party. Yep.
Our friends over at Rhizome Productions helped us throw a a super fun party that was the perfect way to cap Marketing United. The whole shindig had a “beer festival” theme, and cold brews and good times were shared by all before heading back to their offices, inspired and ready to do better marketing.
