Amazon S3 Integration

Your campaign response data is an important input into your overall email and customer marketing strategy. And, if you’ve got a lot of data, being able to easily use it to drive insights is key to your success.

That’s why we’re pleased to launch our Amazon S3 Integration. It allows you to sync and back up your response data, giving you a copy and visibility of this data for use across other tools, like your analytics suite for deeper analysis and insights.

Subaccount management was a key theme this month, with our next feature focused on giving you the tools to manage your subaccounts with ease and increasing account security.  Our new API documentation details a step-by-step guide to help you perform your key administration tasks programmatically, including:

  • Pull a list of all subaccounts for your HQ account

  • Create and archive subaccounts for your HQ account

  • Invite and edit new users to a subaccount

  • Update a user's subaccount associations

HQ home Redesign  

And if you didn’t see it in your inbox, last week we announced the launch of our brand new Emma HQ dashboard featuring all-new account activity modules that give you quick access to the performance and analytics across all your subaccounts. No more hunting for critical account activity over the past month - it’s all right there on the Emma HQ dashboard!

And to make your mailing review and approval process a breeze, we’ve combined your sent and upcoming mailing lists so you can quickly review and approve pending and scheduled campaigns right from the HQ dashboard.

Here’s what’s new:

  • Track mailing engagement performance (emails sent, campaigns sent, and aggregate click rate) over the last 4 weeks. 

  • View audience growth (including net new contacts gained) over the last 4 weeks

  • See the top performing mailing across all your subaccounts in the last 4 weeks

  • Mailing activity displays mailings scheduled, sent, and waiting on your review and approval (pending mailings are always at the top of the list)

Manual Import Trigger

We’re working on building our Manual Import Trigger feature which will allow you to automatically engage your new subscribers and welcome them to the club. Create an automated workflow that'll activate when new contacts are imported into your account, allowing you to easily and immediately engage your new subscribers. This has been highly requested from you, and we’re excited to launch it in the coming months.

New Integrations Platform

We’re building a more scalable and faster way to expand and manage our integrations offering, meaning we’ll be able to provide integrations with more of your business tools allowing you to utilize all of your customer data within Emma.

Now more than ever, creating a sense of urgency is important to ensure subscribers follow through on your call to action. Our new LiveTimer feature, now available inside the Emma builder, makes it clear to your contacts that they need to act quickly by visually demonstrating that sense of urgency. 

LiveTimer is now available for all Plus and HQ customers.

LiveTimer is simple to use, super fast, and doesn’t require any coding on your part. All you have to do is hop into the drag-and-drop email builder, add the content block, and ta-da! Take a look below.

Monthly Insights Report

Understanding how your campaigns are performing is key to a successful marketing strategy. Our new Monthly Insights Report will help you determine if your campaigns are achieving their goals and which ones are performing the best. The Monthly Insights Report measures campaign progress and success month by month, allowing just enough time for the campaign to show real results, successful or not. From there, your report will provide the details you need to build your next great campaign.

All you have to do is opt-in to the monthly insights report to start receiving a monthly summary of your insights stats. The report will go out at the beginning of each month and will highlight the following analytics: 

  • Open rate
  • Click to open rate
  • Click rate
  • Campaigns sent
  • Audience growth
  • Highest performing mailing

The Monthly Insights Report is our way of taking care of some of the heavy lifting that comes with analyzing the success of your hard work. Let us help you formulate a more robust and successful marketing strategy with this insightful resource.

Opt-in Instructions:

You can opt-in directly inside Emma, just follow the steps below:

  1. Login to Emma 
  2. Go to the insights Tab 
  3. Click on the toggle switch next to Engagement Overview (see below)
  4. Voila! Start receiving your monthly emails!

Insights Report


User Details Page Updates

We know that your time is valuable and the ability to locate things quickly is necessary in order to build your campaigns quickly. Our update to the details page allows you to find what you are looking for more efficiently by loading your user list more quickly, helping you locate users, and to easily update a user’s subaccount access. 
We have improved the Users list to allow for pagination and updated the interface which will cut down on the time you need to spend administering your users. Some other updated functions include: 

  • Faster load time when accessing the Users list 
  • Updates to ensure the user details page loads correctly for all user types 
  • Updated look and feel of the User Details page that includes:
  • Tabbed design to better align with accessibility goals
  • The ability to edit first and last name

For HQ Users, we’ve added alphabetical sort order and a search bar when updating a user’s subaccount access

Accessibility and usability updates in Emma


Here at Emma, we strive every day to create a great experience for all of our customers. We’re passionate about building an email marketing platform that every marketer can use, read, and understand, regardless of whether they have a visual impairment or disability. That said, we’re very excited to roll out accessibility and design improvements to the Home Page to improve usability and everyone’s experience in Emma which includes:

  • Keyboard navigation
  • Screen reader support
  • ADA-compliant font sizes and contrast 

You’ll also see visual updates for the Marketing Calendar, Recent Mailing cards, performance metrics, and account activity. Starting with the Home Page, these accessibility updates are only the beginning, so stay tuned for more!

Faster load times in Emma HQ 

We’ve put a lot of focus on making everyday actions in Emma HQ faster, like adding pagination to user lists. Instead of displaying all the users on one page (which takes time to build), we’ve added pagination to organize your users into pages, so it not only loads faster, but the navigation buttons make it easy to find exactly who you’re looking for.

Automate your data imports through SFTP 

If you have multiple systems housing customer data, you know how difficult it can be to keep your contact information in sync. Manually importing your contact files requires extra time and increases the risk of error. Now you can take control of your SFTP sync and manage how Emma keeps your contacts up to date, regardless of your source system. 

Instead of waiting for a technician to make changes, this update allows you to manage your data sync settings directly inside your Connect dashboard.

Once you set up Connect SFTP through our step-by-step wizard guide, you can control your data syncs directly from within Emma by setting a specific syncing time each day, or by clicking on the “Sync Now” button whenever you’re in the app.

This paid service is available to our Plus & HQ customers. Contact our professional services team to find out more.

So why SFTP? 

Simply put SFTP is a tool that allows you to securely transfer data between organizations. It can increase the speed and efficiency of business processes by allowing you to transfer large files in one go (all of your contacts, for example). 

It also reduces the risk of data exchanges through encryption, data integrity/authenticity checks, and host authentication. That means you can securely update your contacts inside Emma, regardless of your internal system (and do so automatically), saving precious time on manual updates.

Redesigned Template Gallery

Email templates are one of the most valuable tools an email marketer can have. By having a go-to design for each type of email you send, you reduce the time spent building your campaign while also keeping your emails consistent and on-brand. And with Emma's upcoming template gallery redesign, you'll further reduce the steps needed to get your next campaign out the door.

Emma's new template gallery offers an intuitive experience when you get started on your next campaign. Its clean, refreshed look offers a more straightforward process in choosing and creating an email. Take a look: 

1. You'll start a new campaign as you have before, either from the main dashboard or Campaigns tab.

2) After naming your campaign, you will be taken to the new template gallery to choose your starting design. You can start from a previously-sent campaign, choose one of your templates, or browse our designed template gallery.


If you would rather start from scratch or code your own email, simply select the "start from scratch" button in the top right of the page.

3. Once your email looks the way you want it to, you're ready to send! 

The updates to our template gallery pave the way for our new email editor, which will showcase a modern, efficient email building experience. Stay tuned for upcoming announcements about the editor, but for now, get acquainted with the new template gallery!

Navigation Redesign

At Emma, our product teams have a continued focus on making our platform as accessible as possible. To better align with accessibility standards, Emma's main Dashboard page has been refreshed to allow for better navigation, while also updating its color and contrast, keyboard navigation, and other changes to accessibility devices. 

As an HQ admin or manager, you'll notice we’ve moved some menu items around, making it easier for you and your subaccounts to find what you need. For Pro and Plus users, the main menu section should look familiar. The navigation will remain the same, but the layout will have a new look. For all account types, the ‘Help’ link, all of your settings, and administrative tools have been consolidated into the menu in the top right corner.
