2016 was a banner year here at Emma: we hosted our 2nd annual Marketing United conference, hired 3 new C-suite execs to our leadership team, and powered email campaigns for 50,000 customers worldwide! On top of all of that, we added a bunch of new features and enhancements to help our customers do some of their best marketing ever. What new features, you ask? Here’s a recap of everything we released in 2016.
This one’s a biggie. Emma Plus is our new automation platform that equips marketers with next-level tools to send their most relevant and timely emails ever. Two of the more standout features:
Automate emails based on your subscriber's activity outside the inbox, like web tracking, shopping cart activity, event registrations, and more.
Send the perfect follow-up email based on whether or not your subscribers have opened an email or clicked a particular link.
All the Emma tools you use every day to send beautiful email are now neatly organized in the sidebar, so they’re just a click away.
Lightning-fast speed improvements
There’s a lot of technical stuff we could say about what we did, but the end result? Your data loads data super fast, which means you can zip around from one section to the next significantly faster — about 80% faster, actually.
We’re always talking about how targeted, personalized emails are the key to getting the results you care about. And our Segment Builder lets you do just that. To make it even better, we gave it an all-new look and two really helpful features:
- Segment by response to individual mailings
- Segment based on a timeframe

To make your email marketing truly collaborative, you can now add up to 10 account users to your Emma account — complete with their own username, password, and profile photo. And there’s much more to come in 2017.

We’re always creating seamless integrations with the right partners, so email can work alongside your other channels to power the best customer journey – and get the biggest results – possible.
Sync Salesforce contacts and data right to your Emma account (and vice versa), send beautiful mailings to your contacts, and track the results right in Salesforce.
Microsoft Dynamics 365
With 2-way contact syncing, mailing response tracking, and automation based on field changes, your customer data is at the core of every campaign you create.
Sync MINDBODY customer data, fields, and client indexes directly to Emma so you can convert one-time clients into full-time members.
Zapier connects Emma to over 500 apps and services to activate your customer data and power automated lifecycle campaigns.
Drag and drop images
Just drag an image from your computer on top of any image placeholder and it will show up in your mailing. It’s that easy.
Multiple image uploads
Grab a whole batch of photos from your computer and upload them simultaneously to your Image Library.
Folders and Search
Image organization is super important, so we created folders inside the Image Library to keep all of your assets organized. And when you’re looking for one in particular, just use the new Search bar.
Support for retina images
Emma now supports ultra high-res retina images, so your mailings will look spectacular on screens of all sizes.
Compare Mailings helps you hone in on what worked and what didn’t from one mailing to the next. We also made it easy to share those results with the rest of your team in an easy-to-scan format.
Our new Code Your Own HTML editor gives you total control over your email design – just paste in your own custom HTML and CSS and you're good to go.
We also partnered with our friends at Litmus to build Litmus Preview — an inbox preview tool that lets you see how your email will look in the most popular email clients and devices. You’ll hit “send” with confidence.
