Here at Emma, we writers do a whole lotta... well, writing.
But we also do a lot of reading, and so do the rest of our staffers! After all, it’s important that we all stay up to date on the latest marketing trends, tech news, stats – really, anything that touches the world of email. And, if we’re being honest, sometimes we just need a good article or two to break up the work day.
Since there’s a LOT of content out there – some good, some very bad – we thought we’d share some of our favorite go-to resources with you guys. Check ‘em out, learn a thing or two, and kill some time with us, won’t you? You might just find a new favorite blog. (Aside from ours, of course!)
General marketing and tech
The Econsultancy weekly stat roundup: Every Friday, a writer named Jack Simpson over at Econsultancy compiles a pretty funny (and incredibly useful) roundup of digital marketing stats from that week. It’s one of our favorite places to collect useful data and learn about the newest research and studies.
Marketing Land: When it comes to all things marketing, these guys have it covered. Marketing Land is a great resource for getting a quick look at everything going on in the marketing world, whether that’s company news from the biggest players in the game, product releases, or actionable strategies you can use in your own marketing.
Tech Crunch newsletter: Obviously we’re pretty big fans of email around here, but if you’re only going to subscribe to one company’s email newsletter for news about the tech community, make it TechCrunch. It’s a daily, no-nonsense digest of blog posts that’s easily scannable and full of great content.
CogLode: If you have a thing for marketing psychology, you’re going to LOVE this. CogLode is a compilation of studies about cognitive biases (as applied to marketing campaigns) put together by a UK marketing agency called Ribot. It’s fascinating stuff.
Disclaimer: these folks are our partners. But they also produce some seriously top-notch content, so be sure to check out what they have to offer!
Litmus: Litmus is a total master when it comes to producing interesting, helpful content about email marketing. Stroll over to their blog for email design best practices, troubleshooting tips for rendering issues, new features, hands-on videos, inspirational campaigns, and more!
Email on Acid: Email on Acid provides email testing, troubleshooting and tracking tools to help you simplify and improve your email marketing efforts. So their blog is a great place to read up on general email marketing tips along with more technical advice on things like coding HTML templates.
Wistia: These guys are our go-to video gurus. They post helpful content on how to best use video in your marketing efforts, along with more aspirational stories, like the time they used GoPro footage to create 360° spherical video.
Eventbrite: If you plan and organize events of any scale, you should check out Eventbrite’s blog. They have a ton of great advice for event planners that will help you sell tickets, do better event marketing, and follow up with attendees afterward.
